This springtime, Continuo heads into uncharted waters, exploring the boundaries between cultures and musical traditions. 'Onbegrensd' is an exploration through a broad range of musical genres beyond European traditions. Dream away to the sounds of African American blues, explore Japanese and Chinese butterfly gardens and experience images from Aleppo... In Onbegrensd, Continuo, like music itself, will defy boundaries and expectations!

In order to achieve this, the orchestra is joined by a number of international soloists: soprano Chia-Fen Wu and instrumentalists Farnoosh Khodadadeh (daf) and Ehsan Yadollahi (tar), Paul Klinck (violin), and Fem Devos (piano). Together, we will perform a multicultural program, including works composed and inspired by non-European cultures:

  • Symphony n°3 - Movement 1 & 3 | Florence B. Price
  • Aria ‘Un Bel di Vedremo’ - Madam Butterfly | Giacomo Puccini | Soprano Chia-Fen Wu
  • Violin concerto – ‘The Butterfly Lovers’ | He Zhan-Hao, Chen Gang | Violinist Paul Klinck
  • ‘Two Images From Aleppo’ | Shalan Alhamwy
  • Antar Suite - Movement1 | Nikolai Rimski-Korsakov
  • Pianoconcerto n°5 - Movement 2 & 3 | Camille Saint-Saëns | Pianist Fem Devos
  • Peh-Bo-Tan (Taiwanese trad.) | Chen Chiu-Lin, arr. Wei-En Hsu | Soprano Chia-Fen Wu
  • Zange shotor chargha (Iranian trad.) | arr. Ward De Jonghe | Tar Ehsan Yadollahi
