Welcome to Continuo
The alumni & staff orchestra of Ghent University.
Het orkest, werd opgericht in 2015 en staat sinds de start onder leiding van dirigent Kevin Hendrickx. ‘Continuo’ staat voor ‘verder gaan’ en benadrukt dat de zin om samen muziek te maken en de verbondenheid met de universiteit niet verdwijnen na afstuderen. We organiseren zelf jaarlijks twee concerten en geven daarnaast gelegenheidsconcerten. Dikwijls wordt hiervoor ook samengewerkt met andere muziekgroepen en artiesten en solisten uit binnen- en buitenland.
Continuo kiest resoluut voor een avontuurlijke koers en begeeft zich voorbij het grote en bekende repertoire. We voeren modern werk uit van jonge componisten, maar ook oude onbekende parels uit de Westerse muziekgeschiedenis.

Dirk is not only an accomplished viola da gamba player and musicologist but also a familiar face to our audience — it’s a cherished tradition that he opens our concerts with his insightful introductions. 📚✨
With a doctorate from Ghent University and studies under Wieland Kuijken in The Hague, Dirk’s expertise spans early music, world traditions, and modern rhythms. He has performed worldwide with ensembles like Zefiro Torna, Capilla Flamenca, and Spectra, and collaborated with artists from Turkey, China, and Morocco. 🌍
Thanks to his passion and deep knowledge, Dirk’s introductions always set the perfect mood for the music to come.
